General Shvediuk takes over the Operational Command “West”: what is known about him

Brigadier General Volodymyr Shvedyuk has been appointed commander of the troops of the Operational Command “West”. This is stated on the official Facebook page of the command, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reports.

“Dear officers, sergeants, soldiers! From today, I am honoured to lead, without exaggeration, one of the most powerful military formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I am very grateful for the trust of the command, which entrusted me with this responsible mission. It is a great honour and privilege, and I understand that it carries a great responsibility to you, to our military units and to Ukraine,”

– shvediuk wrote.

He thanked the command for their trust, calling it “a great honour and privilege”.

Shvediuk noted that he strives to ensure that the West Command “becomes a model of military excellence and tactical skill”.

Operational Command West is a unification of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in eight western regions of Ukraine. Area of responsibility: Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi regions.

It should be noted that since August 2021, the operational command “West” has been headed by Serhiy Litvinov.

What is known about Brigadier General Shvediuk

Volodymyr Shvediuk took a direct part in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.

In April 2015, he was appointed Chief of Staff – First Deputy Commander of the 59th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade. In May 2016, he was appointed by the order of the Minister of Defence to the position of military commissar of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Commissariat of the Operational Command “West” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2018-2019, he was the commander of the 59th separate motorised infantry brigade.

on 24 February 2022, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the Territorial Defence Forces.

In March 2022, he became the Chief of Staff of one of the groups of our troops in the eastern direction.
