US general names key condition for ending war in Ukraine

Until the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin is convinced that defeat is inevitable, the war will not end. He will continue to fight as long as he believes he can win. This is the key factor that determines the development of each scenario.

Wesley Clark, a retired U.S. Army general and former commander of NATO’s Allied Forces Europe, said this in an interview with Espresso, answering the question of when the war in Ukraine will end, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“You are asking extremely difficult questions. First of all, I would like to say that we deeply admire the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people, who have been enduring this war for more than three years without a clear idea of its end. In World War II, Germany attacked Poland in 1939, and the war lasted six years. It ended only when the military potential of Nazi Germany was completely destroyed and the country was occupied,” he said.

Clarke noted that he does not foresee developments that would lead to the occupation of Russia, but believes that this conflict will continue as long as the Ukrainian people retain the courage, will and ability to resist. And this resistance should be backed up by much tougher economic measures against Russia and its allies.
