The Prosecutor General confirmed: Khristenko concluded a plea agreement
5 December 2025 01:19
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has confirmed that there is a plea agreement in the case of MP from the banned OPFL party, Fedir Khrystenko. He stated this in a public comment, emphasizing that the document cannot be made public at this time due to the availability of data related to national security and the protection of the suspect, reports
“Regarding the agreement with the MP from the banned OPFL party. Yes, there is an agreement. No, it cannot be made public now – it contains data related to the suspect’s safety and national security issues. But I will say one thing clearly: the agreement does not mention the leadership of the anti-corruption bodies. It has no connection with the Midas operation. The facts reflected in it happened long before any current events,” the Prosecutor General said.
Kravchenko also responded to public accusations and “hysteria” that, according to him, are spread by some suspects and defendants in criminal proceedings, putting pressure on the investigation and prosecutors.

What is happening in the Khrystenko case
The AntAC, citing its own sources, reported that the case of MP Fedir Khrystenko was allegedly sent to court and that he “probably entered into a plea agreement.” Khristenko is being tried in a joint case with NABU detective Ruslan Magamedrasulov on suspicion of treason.
He is charged with:
- high treason by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1, 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code)
- abuse of influence (Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code).
What lawyers say
Oleksandr Babikov, lawyer, former Deputy Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, in a commentary
Babikov emphasizes:
- “A plea agreement can be concluded in proceedings of any category, even in cases of high treason.
- The key is what information or evidence the accused can provide to the investigation.
- Even after the agreement, Khrystenko remains an accused, and the punishment is agreed with the prosecutor and approved by the court.
- All agencies use the plea bargaining tool: NABU, SBU, DBR, police.
Refuting manipulations
Kravchenko separately stated that:
- “The Prosecutor General’s Office did not take the case from the SBU, the materials were requested only to assess the status of the investigation.
- Changing the preventive measure is not an excuse for the suspects.
- The prosecutor’s office “does not work under pressure” and does not respond to information campaigns.
Khrystenko case
In September, the SBU arrested MP from the banned OPFL party, Fedir Khrystenko, on suspicion of treason.
Law enforcement officials clarified that the defendant had been recruited by the Russian FSB long before the full-scale invasion and was actively fulfilling the tasks of the Russian special service.
In July, according to the SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office, the defendant was served a notice of suspicion under the following articles of the Criminal Code:
- ч. 2, Art. 28, Part 1, Part 2, Art. 111 (high treason committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law);
- ч. 2 Art. 369-2 (abuse of influence).
