General Staff: 114 combat engagements took place in the frontline, situation in Vovchansk is under control

On Thursday, 16 May, 114 combat engagements took place at the frontline, with Russians firing almost 2,800 times at the positions of our troops. This is stated in the report of the General Staff, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“The Russian occupiers launched four missile strikes, using seven missiles, and 70 air strikes, used 431 kamikaze drones, and fired almost 2,800 times at the positions of our troops,”
– the General Staff reports.
Since the beginning of the day on Thursday, 114 combat engagements have taken place, 5 of them are still ongoing (note – as of 23:30 on 16 May).
There were 10 combat engagements in theKharkiv sector . Our soldiers repelled 8 attacks in the vicinity of Liptsy, Starytsia and Vovchansk in Kharkiv region. The enemy continues to try to break through the defences of Ukrainian units in the Shebekino-Vovchansk area. The situation in Vovchansk is under control.
In theKupyansk sector, the Ukrainian Defence Forces successfully repelled 6 enemy attacks. In some areas, our troops are taking measures to improve the tactical situation. Another combat engagement continues in the Krokhmalne-Berestove area. The situation is under control.
In theLiman sector, the enemy tried to break through the defences of our troops 8 times without success.
Four enemy attacks were repelled in theSiverskyi sector. Combat continues in the Berestove – Vyymka area. In the course of defensive actions, no positions were lost, the situation is under control.
In theKramatorsk sector, 13 attempts to break through the defences of our troops were repelled. Our defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the areas of Bakhmut – Klishchiyivka and Opytne – Andriivka. The situation is under control.
In thePokrovsk sector, 35 enemy attacks took place. In some areas, as a result of intense fire and enemy assault, the Defence Forces regrouped in the course of the fighting. Fighting continues in the area of Novooleksandrivka.
In theKurakhove sector, the enemy made 12 attempts to break through the defences of our troops. Ukrainian positions were not lost in action.
In theVremivsk sector, the enemy made 9 unsuccessful attempts to improve its tactical position in the areas of Pivdenna Shakhta No. 1, Urozhayne and Staromayorske. The situation is under control.
In thePrydniprovskyi sector, the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled nine enemy attacks in the Oleshkivski Pisky – Krynky area. In the course of the fighting, the enemy did not succeed, and no positions were lost.
“In general, the situation at the front is controlled by the Defence Forces, there have been no significant changes in the situation. Ukrainian defenders are doing everything possible to hold defensive lines and positions, inflicting significant losses on the occupiers, and increasing the initiative where possible,”
– the General Staff emphasised.
