General Staff names the most difficult frontline areas as of the morning of 16 July

There were 119 combat engagements in the frontline over the last day. In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 31 Russian attacks. This is stated in the morning report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the updated information, over the past day, the enemy launched one missile attack on the positions of our troops and settlements with one missile, 131 air strikes, dropping 135 guided aerial bombs, used 909 kamikaze drones to destroy them, and carried out 4323 attacks, 139 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.
The enemy’s air strikes targeted, in particular, the areas around Vovchansk, Liptsi, Veterynne, Borshchove, Hlyboke, Vesele, Bilyi Kolodyaz in Kharkiv region; Serebryanske forestry; Torske, Chasiv Yar, Katerynivka, Yelizavetivka, Staromlynivka, Makarivka, New York, Toretsk, Oleksandropil, Zhelanne, Ivanivka, Novoselivka Persha in Donetsk region; Otradokamyanka, Mykolaivka, Tokarivka in Kherson region.
Situation at the frontline
A total of 18 combat engagements took place in theKharkiv sector. Fighting took place near Vovchansk and Hlyboke. The enemy was actively using aviation to support the assault.
In theKupyansk sector, the number of attacks totalled five yesterday. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults near Petropavlivka in Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region.
In theLiman sector, our troops repelled eight occupants’ attacks near Nevske in Luhansk and Terniv in Donetsk regions.
In theSiverskyi sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled seven assaults near Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, Rozdolivka, Verkhnekamianske and Spirne in Donetsk region.
In theKramatorsk sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped six enemy attempts to break through the defences in the areas of Hryhorivka and Chasovyi Yar in Donetsk region.
The enemy made 14 attacks in theToretsk sector. He concentrated his efforts towards New York and Pivnichne. He supported his actions with strikes by bombers and attack aircraft.
In thePokrovsk sector, our defenders repelled 31 assault attacks in the areas of Novoselivka Persha, Novooleksandrivka, Progress and Yasnobrodivka in Donetsk region, where the aggressor, with the support of aviation, tried to force our units out of their positions.
In theKurakhove sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Paraskoviivka and Karlivka, where the enemy tried to seize our fortifications 17 times.
In theVremivsk sector, the aggressor made seven unsuccessful attacks near Vodiane, Kostiantynivka and Makarivka in the Donetsk region.
The occupants unsuccessfully stormed our positions three times in the Orikhivskyi sector, near Mala Tokmachka and Novoandriivka.
In thePrydniprovsky sector, the enemy continues to try to drive our units from their positions. Three unsuccessful attacks by enemy infantry were repelled by Ukrainian troops.
The operational situation in theVolyn and Polissya sectorsremained unchanged. No signs of the formation of offensive groups of occupants were detected.
On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy continues to conduct sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation, and increasing the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.
Enemy losses
Yesterday, the total losses of the Russian invaders amounted to 1110 people. In addition, our soldiers neutralised 13 tanks, 36 armoured combat vehicles, 44 artillery systems, 45 OTR UAVs, 57 vehicles and eight pieces of special equipment.
Yesterday, the aviation and missile forces and artillery of the Defence Forces struck 11 areas of personnel concentration, a command post, two air defence facilities, a radar and an electronic warfare station.
The total enemy combat losses from 24.02.22 to 16.07.24 were approximately
