The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, promised to deal with the newly introduced fee for using an electronic diary and urged citizens not to rush to pay for this service. Danylo Hetmantsev wrote about this in Telegram, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Access to the Ukrainian electronic diary, which displays lesson schedules, grades, and attendance, is now available by subscription for 48.99 UAH per month.

Parents online are outraged and note that the Ministry of Education does not appear to have been informed of the innovation.

The developer of the app confirmed that access to the electronic diary is now provided on a paid subscription basis. According to the company, the first seven days of using the diary are free, after which the subscription costs UAH 48.99 per month.

The service administration assured that the conditions for schools, teachers, and children have not changed.

“All conditions for using the system for schools, teachers and children remain unchanged. You can use the browser version of the program for free; or view grades in the child’s version at no additional cost,” the administration noted in the comments.

“I receive appeals from parents of schoolchildren regarding the introduction of a fee for using the school diary. 50 UAH per month. I do not advise parents to rush to pay. Something tells me that he will lose his “business,” he wrote in a telegram.

Hetmantsev noted that the law does not provide for a fee for using the electronic diary.

“But if you calculate it for a year, it’s a good amount – 2.2 billion UAH. On Monday, I will ask for information about the author and inspirer of this amazing monetization of a public service. So far, it looks like a large private operator decided to make money, which schools had been “hooked” on before,” Hetmantsev said.

There has been no official comment from the Ministry of Education.
