“Deeper and deeper”: Ukrainian drones reach Tatarstan

2 April 2024 11:05

This morning, drones hit businesses in Russian Tatarstan, namely in Elabuga and Nizhnekamsk. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ citing a number of media outlets and Telegram channels.

“This morning, Tatarstan’s enterprises in Elabuga and Nizhnekamsk were attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles. There was no serious damage, and the technological process of the enterprises was not disrupted. In Yelabuga, unfortunately, there were people injured as a result of the destruction of their premises. They are being provided with all necessary assistance,”

– the official Telegram channel of Tatarstan reported.

In Yelabuga, drones attacked an enterprise that manufactured Shahids.

In Nizhnekamsk, Tatneft’s TANEKO oil refinery came under attack. This was the first refinery built in post-Soviet Russia in 2005. In 2022, it rose to fifth place in the list of the country’s largest refineries in terms of oil refining capacity, with 16.2 million tonnes per year.

The distance between the Ukrainian border and Nizhnekamsk in a straight line is more than 1300 km. It is noteworthy that the drones look unusual in the videos and photos – it seems that such models have not been used before. Only yesterday, an interview with the Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov was published, in which he claimed that the drones that had previously attacked Russian refineries had a range of up to 1,000 km, but that models that can cover even that distance have appeared.
