The robot head from the movie “Star Wars” sold for $1 million

The head of the humanoid robot C-3PO from George Lucas’s 1980 cult science-fiction film *Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back* was sold at auction for over $1 million.

This was reported by The Hollywood Reporter, as cited by "Komersant Ukrainian".

One of the most famous androids to appear on the big screen became the top seller at Propstore’s spring auction of entertainment memorabilia.

The robot’s head sold for $1,058,400, surpassing lots from films such as “Jaws,” “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Top Gun,” “Batman Begins,” and others.

According to Propstore, the C-3PO head is the only known example from the film to have entered the collectibles market. This is not the first time a “Star Wars” item has sold for a seven-figure sum.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, memorabilia from the franchise often fetches high prices at auctions, including Darth Vader’s lightsaber, which sold for $3.654 million, and an X-wing fighter, which sold for $3.135 million.

In total, over 250 notable lots from movies and TV shows were sold at the Propstore auction, bringing in $6.5 million. A collection of memorabilia from Steven Spielberg’s movie “Jaws” raised a total of over $600,000.
