“Ready for peace”: Vitkoff conveyed Putin’s new statement on Ukraine

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is interested in signing a peace agreement with Ukraine.

This was stated by US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, according to "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Bloomberg TV.

According to him, he and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, will travel to Moscow tomorrow, January 22, for talks with Putin. During the meeting, the parties plan to discuss a 20-point plan to end the war, which, according to Witkoff, is more than 90% complete.

“Everyone wants to reach a peace agreement,” he said.

At the same time, the special envoy refused to condemn Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, which left much of Kyiv without water, heating, and electricity during the cold spell.

Negotiations between Ukraine and the US

Ukraine continues to consult with European and American partners on the implementation of the peace plan. At the end of December, President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Florida, where he met with US President Donald Trump.

Despite statements about full security guarantees for Ukraine, the most difficult issue—that of territory—remains unresolved. At the same time, Trump says a compromise is close, and Zelensky has announced that the peace plan is 90% ready and the security guarantees are 100% ready.

Recently, a meeting of the “coalition of the willing” was held in Paris at the leadership level, following which Kyiv, Paris, and London signed a declaration of intent regarding the possible deployment of a Western contingent in Ukraine.

Kremlin special representative Kirill Dmitriev was also spotted in the French capital. According to media reports, Trump’s advisers discussed the American peace plan with him, and Russia may respond to Ukraine’s 20-point proposal by the end of the month.
