On Friday, December 12, power outage schedules will be in effect in all regions of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of Ukrenergo, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The restrictions will cover the whole day – from 00:00 to 23:59, both for households and industry.
The company traditionally does not disclose the detailed scope of restrictions, explaining that it is operationally necessary and the situation in the power system is highly variable.
Why the power is cut off
The main reason is the consequences of massive Russian attacks on energy facilities. The shelling in recent weeks has caused significant damage to the infrastructure, which is why the balance of electricity production and consumption remains tense.
“Ukrenergo clarifies that the situation may change during the day: the schedules depend on repair works, the state of generation and consumption volumes.
What consumers are advised to do
The company urges Ukrainians to check the current schedules on the official pages of regional power distribution companies. They inform about the specific time and duration of outages in each locality.
The companies will also be subject to power restrictions with the same daily interval as household consumers.
Possible relief on weekends
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said that the duration of blackouts may be reduced this weekend. The government attributes this to the connection of new generation sources, optimization of critical infrastructure lists, and the restoration of some damaged power units.
