Money for tanks and armor for the occupiers: SBU puts singer Leps on the wanted list

18 June 20:20

The Security Service of Ukraine has put Russian singer Grigory Leps (real name: Grigory Lepsveridze) on the wanted list. His data appeared in the section “Persons hiding from pre-trial investigation bodies” on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The date of his disappearance is March 4, 2025 – it was at this time that the SBU notified Leps of suspicion in absentia. A Ukrainian court imposed a pre-trial restraint on him in the form of detention.

What is Leps suspected of?

In March 2025, the Security Service of Ukraine notified Leps in absentia of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • ч. 3 of Art. 436-2 – justification, recognition of the legitimacy, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine;
  • ч. 1 of Art. 110-2 – financing of actions committed with the aim of forcible change or overthrow of the constitutional order, seizure of state power or change of the borders of the territory of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, in the summer of 2023, Leps announced his intention to pay 1 million rubles (approximately 460 thousand hryvnias) for each destroyed tank of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, he donated body armor, clothing, and food to the Russian military.

The artist publicly acknowledged these activities in comments to Russian propaganda media.

The case of Leps is qualified as an example of direct participation in the material and informational support of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The search is ongoing.

Hryhoriy Leps was one of the first artists to openly finance and support Russian aggression, promising a reward for destroyed Ukrainian military equipment and actively assisting the occupiers. This put him in the spotlight of Ukrainian law enforcement and made him the subject of a criminal investigation and wanted list.

If necessary, I can add a more detailed chronology or expert comments.
