Georgia has shortened the visa-free period for Ukrainians. What do we know?

3 April 20:25

The Georgian government has issued a decree reducing the period of visa-free stay for Ukrainian citizens in the country from three years to one.

This was reported by News Georgia, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to the media, these changes were made by Prime Minister and leader of the Georgian Dream Irakli Kobakhidze.

The document dated April 2 states that for those who entered and stayed in Georgia before February 24, 2025, the period of stay is extended until February 24, 2026.

Tbilisi has not yet commented on why it decided to make the changes. According to the Russian resource Sota, this step by the Georgian government has equalized the periods of stay without visas for Ukrainians and Russians.

Before the outbreak of the full-scale war, Ukrainians could also stay in Georgia for only a year, but in 2024, this period was increased to three years.
