The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine is not abandoning its plans to destroy the Crimean bridge. They are confident that this will be achieved in the coming months. An anonymous source in the GUR told the British newspaper The Guardian, according to Kommersant Ukrainian ![]()
“We will do it in the first half of 2024,”
– a DIU official told the Guardian.
He added that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, already has “most of the means to achieve this goal.”
Kommersant Ukrainian
reported that Ukraine has now effectively blocked the Crimean bridge. Due to the danger of Ukrainian strikes, the Russians have imposed restrictions on the ferrying of dangerous goods, including all military equipment, across the bridge. Instead, they are transported to Crimea by ferries and tankers. This is a complicated logistical process, so a week ago, more than 2,500 tankers were already waiting in line to cross.
If the Crimean bridge is destroyed, military logistics in Russia will become even more complicated. In particular, military supplies will have to be transported by road through the occupied part of Ukraine. This route would pass through the occupied parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions and would definitely not be safe for the Russians. At the same time, it is known that Russia is already actively building a railway along this route, as the railway is the main logistics artery of the Russian army.
