Elon Musk has sharply criticized Donald Trump’s new tax bill, saying that the document undermines the work done by his former government department, Doge, to reduce government spending. This was reported by the Financial Times, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Musk, who until recently headed the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), expressed disappointment over the passage of the bill, which provides for a significant increase in the US budget deficit.

“This massive spending bill undoes the efforts of my team. It increases the deficit and jeopardizes the country’s financial stability,” he said.

This refers to Trump’s legislative initiative called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which was unanimously supported by the US House of Representatives last week. The document was praised by Trump, who called it “perhaps the most important law in the history of the country.” At the same time, independent analysts estimate that the implementation of this bill will increase the US national debt by more than $3.3 trillion over the next ten years.

“The bill may be great and wonderful. But I am not sure that it can be both at the same time. This is my personal opinion,” Musk said.

In addition, he expressed dissatisfaction with the Trump administration’s trade policy, in particular, calling Chief Trade Advisor Peter Navarro an “idiot” and “dumber than a bag of bricks.”

Last month, Musk left his position at Doge to focus on his business projects, including Tesla, which has faced declining sales, in part due to his association with the current administration’s policies.
