Speedtest index: Ukraine is only 71st in terms of fixed internet speed

Ookla has released the Speedtest rating, according to which the United Arab Emirates took first place in terms of mobile Internet speed, while Singapore is in the lead in the fixed Internet category. This was reported by Finteco, referring to the publication of the Ookla website, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to the ranking, Ukraine ranks 71st in terms of fixed Internet speed with 84.40 megabits per second. As for mobile Internet speed, our country is in 81st position with 42.68 megabits per second.

Among Ukrainian cities, Kharkiv ranks 101st in the mobile internet ranking with 56.75 megabits per second. Kyiv ranks 114th. The capital ranks 83rd in the fixed-line Internet rating with 93.73 megabits per second, and Kharkiv ranks 93rd with 87.12 megabits per second.

The United Arab Emirates and the Persian Gulf countries hold the top spot in terms of mobile Internet speed. Bulgaria, Brazil, and Georgia are also among the leaders. In the category of fixed Internet, Singapore took the first place with 336.45 megabits per second, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong and European countries.

Belarus, Syria, and Eritrea ranked last in terms of mobile Internet speed. The lowest fixed-line Internet speeds are in Ethiopia, Cameroon, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan – 3-4 megabits per second. In Aleppo and Damascus, the speed of the fixed Internet is 2.26 megabits per second. Russia ranks 87th in terms of mobile internet and 67th in terms of fixed internet with a speed of 90 megabits per second.

The United States ranks 14th in the mobile internet ranking and is also among the top ten countries in terms of fixed internet speed with 274.16 megabits per second. New York and Beijing boast speeds of about 300 megabits per second.

Ukrainians also have their own tool for checking the Internet

The National Commission for the State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum and Postal Services has launched a service to check the speed of the Internet connection QoS Tool – Speedtest. "Komersant Ukrainian"reported.

The service has been developed in partnership with Ookla to provide consumers with a convenient mechanism for measuring key parameters of Internet service quality. Reportedly, the results of measurements made using this tool will be automatically transmitted to the National Commission for the analysis of the quality of Internet access services.
