India and China make peace and decide to resume direct flights

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tianjin, who arrived for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

According to Xi, relations between Beijing and New Delhi began to recover after the meeting in Kazan in 2024.
“Being good-neighborly friends and partners for the sake of common success and achieving the ‘dragon and elephant dance’ should be the right choice for both China and India,” the Chinese leader said.
Modi agreed that the course for the development of Indo-China relations was outlined in Kazan.
“Indo-China relations have returned to a positive direction, the border remains peaceful and stable, and direct flights are about to resume,” the TV channel quoted the Indian prime minister as saying.
According to Bloomberg, flights will be resumed after a five-year break. in 2020, the flights were suspended due to the pandemic and deteriorating relations. IndiGo and Air India have already expressed their readiness to start direct flights between the two countries.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization/SCO summit will begin at the Meijiang International Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin on the evening of August 31. After the official meeting and the traditional photo ceremony, the leaders will attend a reception and concert. The event will focus on the state and prospects for expanding cooperation in all areas of the SCO’s activities, as well as current international and regional issues.
