Putin’s Heart Attack or Information Attack: What Really Happened in the Kremlin and Who Is Being Prepared for a Place in the Mausoleum

ANALYSIS FROM

Russian and pro-Russian telegram channels spread information that Russian President Vladimir Putin had allegedly suffered a heart attack and was currently in a closed Kremlin clinic. The source of the news is allegedly the German publication Der Spiegel, although there is no confirmation from this media outlet.

Did Putin really suffer a heart attack or is it just an information special operation? Why is the Kremlin repairing the mausoleum now and who wants to “settle” the living president there? And most importantly: what will happen after Putin – collapse, a new war, or a reset – in the article "Komersant Ukrainian".

Putin is once again at the center of loud speculation. According to Russian media reports, the heart attack occurred after the Kremlin leader was informed of the consequences of the SBU attack on Russian strategic aviation, including heavy losses of equipment. In response to this, sarcastic comments appeared on social media, saying that “Putin’s demilitarization was a success.”

However, this information has no real basis in fact. The Russian state-run TASS news agency has already issued a refutation, saying that the Russian president held an online meeting.

“This is the level of our media: to spread a screen from an unknown channel about Putin’s heart attack. A couple of hours later, publish his briefing quote. Geniuses,” – Telegram Intelligence Noem

Putin’s health is a chronic topic

Rumors about Vladimir Putin’s health problems have been appearing in the information space for years. The most popular versions are Parkinson’s disease, oncology, complications after COVID-19, and steroid use. Videos of the Russian president’s “strange” behavior are regularly circulated online, which only fuels speculation.

Moreover, Putin’s death is not only reported by Western media from time to time, but also by politicians and presidents. During his visit to France, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave an interview to the Eurovision News group, in which he spoke about Vladimir Putin’s fears and hinted that he would “die soon.”

What Putin is afraid of is losing his power. This depends on the stability of society, but it also depends on his age. Putin will die soon, that’s a fact, and it will all be over. He may be done before he finishes his absolutely unsuccessful historical life. That’s what he’s afraid of. To be left alone,” Zelensky said.

“In Russia, they want to restore the mausoleum: Dugin hints at a place for Putin

Meanwhile, in Russia, there is talk of Vladimir Putin’s “historical mission” again, this time in the context of the mausoleum. One of the main ideologues of the “Russian world,” philosopher Alexander Dugin, commented on the decision of the Russian Ministry of Culture to restore the Mausoleum on Red Square, hinting that the renovated building may have a place for the current president of the Russian Federation.

“There will be a place for a real Emperor, a president who is leading Russia to great victories right now,” Dugin said.

“The Mausoleum plans to increase the area of the weapons storage room. I’m sure they will organize an exhibition of trophy weapons captured on the battlefield,” he added.

According to the tender documents, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation has allocated almost 20 million rubles for restoration work at the Vladimir Lenin Mausoleum. The completion date is June 19, 2027.

The condition of the building was assessed as “limitedly serviceable,” and some parts were considered to be in disrepair.

Thus, there is no mention of removing Lenin’s body or preparing a place for Putin in official documents. It is also emphasized that the main hall of the mausoleum, where the body of the leader is kept, will not be affected by the repair work. Alexander Dugin himself is a well-known supporter of the restoration of the “great empire” and a public ideologist of the Putin regime. His statements are often mystical or symbolic, bordering on radical propaganda.

What will happen after Putin’s death?

If Putin dies tomorrow, Russia will face an internal conflict among the ruling elites. However, with a 70% probability, power will not go to the most aggressive force, but to one of the existing clans, which will destroy competitors or reach an agreement with them. This forecast was made by Russian opposition analyst Ivan Preobrazhensky.

According to him, after Putin’s death, the current totalitarian regime in Russia will transform back into an authoritarian one. The new leadership will try to restore ties with the West, while not giving up any of the “achievements” made during the Putin era.

They are not going to pay reparations. They may demonstratively hand over one oligarch to the West, as Serbia did after Milosevic. But there will be no short-term democratic period in Russia, like in Belgrade with Zoran Đinđić,” said Preobrazhensky.

The political elite of the Russian Federation, according to the analyst, will not allow a democratic transformation of the country. Instead, it will start redistributing influence between several clans

  • the “Kogalym clan” around Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, who is perceived in the West as a conditional liberal, but in reality, according to Preobrazhensky, it is “a criminal clan from Khanty-Mansiysk.”
  • The Kovalchuks and Kiriyenko clan, which has a significant influence on the media, the occupied territories, and Rosatom.
  • The military-industrial complex clan, headed by Sergei Chemezov and Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. They are likely to be joined by Oleksiy Dyumin, a former special forces officer who is believed to have led the operation to remove Viktor Yanukovych in 2014.
  • The power bloc, which includes Ramzan Kadyrov and the head of the Rosgvardia, Viktor Zolotov. However, without alliances with economic players, this clan is unlikely to be able to fully seize power, the analyst believes.

What will happen to the war?

The war is likely to end or be severely slowed down. For Putin, this is an ideological project, and his successors will seek to return to a dialogue with the West. But at the same time, they will maintain control over the occupied territories,” Preobrazhensky said.

However, a real change of course, he said, will not happen without a more serious shock than Putin’s death. For example, a large-scale military defeat.

The rumors about Putin’s heart attack are not the first and probably not the last information special operation in the media field, which has long since turned into a weapon. In a situation where the reliability of sources is inferior to the speed of spread, even an anonymous telegram message can become a global news story. However, behind the façade of fakes and speculation, there is a real concern: the Russian political elite is preparing for a new phase, when the “Putin era” will either end physically or lose influence.
