Inflation in Ukraine is accelerating: which products have risen in price the most

In October 2024, inflation reached 9.7% compared to the same period last year. This is stated in the November report of the State Statistics Service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

Since the beginning of the year, according to the State Statistics Service, consumer prices have increased by 8.4%.

Compared to September, October saw a monthly increase in inflation of 1.8%. In September, the figure was 1.7%. Together with June, when inflation was 2.2%, these months are the leaders in terms of inflation. In all other months of the year, inflation was consistently below one percent. Thus, inflation in Ukraine accelerated during the fall months.

The biggest changes in prices for food, housing and utilities, and transportation

The following food products rose in price the most:

  • vegetables (18.2%);
  • eggs (18.1%);
  • butter (6.9%);
  • fruits (4.0%);
  • milk (3.3%).

In the housing and utilities sector, electricity prices have increased by 63.6% since the beginning of the year. This is due to the fact that on June 1, the Cabinet of Ministers raised the electricity tariff by 60% at once.

Housing maintenance and repairs went up by 4.5%, and apartment building management services by 9.8%.

Transportation prices increased by 0.5% in October, in particular due to higher fuel prices (0.8%) and road passenger transportation services (0.7%). At the same time, rail transportation fell by 4.7%, which may be due to changes in passenger traffic and tariff policy.

Sugar was also one of the few consumer products that fell in price, down 4.2%.
