Information attacks or criticism: a petition to verify Bezuhla appeared in the Rada
17 December 19:04
A petition demanding the creation of a provisional investigatory commission (PIC) to investigate the actions of MP Mariana Bezuhla has been registered on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The author of the petition claims that her public activism in relation to the Armed Forces of Ukraine could have harmed national security.
What the petition says
The initiator of the petition, Yevhen Oleksenko, states that Mariana Bezuhla’s public statements and posts in 2022-2024 show signs of a systematic information campaign against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In his opinion, these actions could be used in favor of the Russian aggressor.
The text of the appeal emphasizes that the MP repeatedly disseminated information that was later officially denied by the military.
What statements were denied by the military
The petition provides a number of examples:
- on March 18, 2025, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied Bezuhla’s words about the alleged advance of Russian troops deep into the Sumy region;
- on October 28, 2024, the General Staff denied her claims that medics were transferred from hospitals to the infantry;
- on November 3, 2024, Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat denied claims that the number of downed Shahed drones had decreased;
- on February 12, 2025, the Air Force denied a report of an “unshot missile crater” in Kyiv.
Military reaction
The head of the Air Force Command’s communications department, Yuriy Ihnat, publicly supported the idea of checking the MP’s activities. He stated that her posts and speeches, in his opinion, have a destabilizing effect on the situation in the army and the country.
Ihnat also drew attention to the fact that Mariana Bezuhla had long been a member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence and had access to classified information, which, in his opinion, increases the need for an investigation.
Arguments about information influence
The author of the petition and a number of public figures emphasize that the MP’s posts are actively quoted by Russian and pro-Russian telegram channels. According to them, these statements are used to discredit the Armed Forces and the Ukrainian government and are presented as evidence of internal conflicts in Ukraine.
A similar position was previously expressed by the former head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Heorhiy Tuka, who noted that Russian information resources regularly use Bezuhla’s public statements in their propaganda.
To be considered by the Verkhovna Rada, the petition must collect the number of signatures required by law. In this case, the parliament is obliged to consider the petition and decide whether to create a temporary investigative commission to verify the allegations made in it.
