The contracts of foreigners serving in the military in Ukraine contain a provision on contract termination, and a provision on voluntary termination. This is stated in the report of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“The conditions for foreigners to perform military service in Ukraine contain a provision on the termination of the contract they sign with the Ministry of Defence of our country on their own initiative. It’s a nice bonus that they sign a contract but are not obliged to stay here for a year, two, three or five years. He stayed for a few months, saw what was going on. Maybe he needs time to stop, reassess, understand why he is not ready, what skills and knowledge he needs to acquire. Or he is ready to acquire them here, in combat,”
– said the Chief of Staff of the International Legion of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, call sign “Chief.
According to him, the changes to the law on mobilisation of 18 May stipulate that foreigners can terminate their contract only after 6 months of continuous service.
“Chief” stressed that to join the military intelligence, foreigners first register on the website, fill out a questionnaire, and report their experience and skills.
“Some of them fought in Syria, some in Iraq, some in Afghanistan, and so on. We have our own experience… We strive for the best: for NATO, for those units that use the right methods of command and control and combat. However, in any case, Ukrainians with good knowledge of a foreign language and combat experience should be at the top of the chain of command,”
– the DIU noted.
After that, the recruitment department examines the information provided by foreigners and submits their candidacies to the combat unit, as well as makes an appeal to the foreigner, and he comes to Ukraine. He is escorted, signs a contract and joins the Armed Forces.
