The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a resolution to extend the eCheka project for booking border crossing times for another two years. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
It is noted that the new pilot project will focus on scaling the system for all types of vehicles, improving the issue of priority border crossing, and automatically verifying a range of information that the carrier must have.
“We are talking about both commercial carriers and citizens crossing the border by private transport – everyone should be sure that there will be no queues at the checkpoint. In addition, an important stage in the project’s development will be the installation of automatic fixation cameras at the entrance to the checkpoints to minimize the possibility of vehicles not registered in the system,” said Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
As part of the new project, it is planned to
- to scale the service to all types of vehicles crossing the border (cars, trucks less than 7.5 tons)
- to integrate with relevant systems to ensure priority in the queue in accordance with the Convention on Common Transit (T1), companies exporting goods under the TIR system or having the status of authorized economic operator
- to ensure automatic verification of a number of information at the time of registration in the system, such as the availability of an insurance policy (“green card”).
The updated project aims to significantly expand the functionality of the eCheck system and modernize it.
The list of pilot project participants has also been significantly expanded. These are the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the State Agency for Infrastructure Recovery and Development, the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety, the Administration of the State Border Guard Service, the State Customs Service, the State Enterprise “Diya”, the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine, business entities of waiting zones (service zones), and the budgetary institution “Information and Analytical Center for Road Economy”.
What is eTurn?
It is an online booking system for booking a place in the queue for border crossing. Thanks to the eChezhda system, carriers can schedule border crossing times and avoid spending money on several days of downtime. And the state will be able to analyze traffic flows and record loads, according to the program’s developers. The service is also designed to reduce queues at checkpoints.
For more than a year, eChezha has been operating for trucks, and recently it was scaled up for buses.
How eCherge works:
- the carrier registers in the eCheckpoint system and selects a checkpoint and the date of crossing;
- the system reserves a place in the queue for a certain time;
- the carrier arrives at the checkpoint at the booked time and passes control without queuing.
The electronic queue is available at the following checkpoints:
- Krakivets – Korczowa;
- Rava-Ruska – Hrebenne;
- Ustyluh – Zosyn (for empty trucks);
- Shehyni – Medyka;
- Yahodyn – Dorohusk (for empty trucks);
- Yahodyn – Dorohusk.
