The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a decision that is part of the roaming visa-free regime with the European Union. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to him, this decision will strengthen the connection of Ukrainians abroad with their homeland, with their families and friends, and will contribute to the unity and consolidation of the Ukrainian people.
“Today we are making an important decision that is part of the roaming visa-free regime with the European Union. This will strengthen the connection of Ukrainians abroad with their homeland, with their families and friends. This will contribute to the unity and consolidation of the Ukrainian people,” Shmyhal said.
The Head of Government reminded that the so-called visa-free regimes with the EU – trade, transport, energy, customs, digital – are key within the framework of sectoral integration.
He emphasized that Ukraine seeks to consolidate these achievements on a permanent basis and is also working to obtain an industrial visa-free regime.
As a reminder, in June 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Bill No. 10265 on a single roaming system with the European Union. Now, when traveling to the EU, Ukrainians will not pay for roaming – the tariffs for calls and the Internet will be within the “home” package.
It should be noted that on February 14, 2023, the European Commission submitted a proposal to abolish paid roaming for Ukrainians in the European Union in the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
In July 2023, 22 European operators and 7 Ukrainian operators (3Mob, Data Group, Kyivstar, Lifecell, Ukrtelecom, Vega White, Vodafone Ukraine) extended the agreement on affordable roaming for Ukrainians abroad for another year.
on May 22, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passes in the second reading a bill on a unified roaming system with the European Union.
