The Cabinet of Ministers approved payments for Independence Day: who will receive and how much

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the amount of a one-off cash payment for the Independence Day of Ukraine to veterans and some other people in 2024. This was announced by the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk, Komersant ukrainskyi 
reports.
This refers to the list of persons covered by the laws “On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection” and “On Victims of Nazi Persecution”.
By 24 August 2024, a one-time cash payment is to be made to persons with war-related disabilities and former minor (under 14 years of age at the time of imprisonment) prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, and other places of detention who are recognised as persons with disabilities due to general illness, labour injury, or other reasons:
- Group I – UAH 3,100;
- Group II – UAH 2,900;
- Group III – UAH 2,700.
The payments are intended for combatants, injured participants of the Revolution of Dignity and former minors (under 18 years of age at the time of imprisonment), prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, and other places of detention, as well as children born in these places of detention to their parents. The amount of the payment is UAH 1,000.
Persons who have rendered special services to the Motherland – UAH 3,100.
A payment of UAH 650 is granted to
- family members of deceased (deceased) war veterans;
- family members of deceased defenders of Ukraine, wives (husbands) of deceased persons with disabilities as a result of war who did not remarry;
- wives (husbands) of deceased combatants, war veterans and victims of Nazi persecution who were recognised as persons with disabilities due to general illness, labour injury and other reasons and who did not remarry.
War veterans and former prisoners of concentration camps, ghettos, and other places of forced detention, people who were forcibly taken for forced labour, children of partisans, underground fighters, and other participants in the fight against the National Socialist regime behind enemy lines receive a payment of UAH 450.
