At the initiative of the Ministry of Veterans, the Government has increased the amount of state social assistance to children of fallen volunteer defenders. The amount of the payment will be automatically increased from 1 April. This was reported by Kommersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/

This refers to children of fallen (deceased) Defenders of Ukraine from among the persons who voluntarily participated in the implementation of measures necessary to ensure the defence of Ukraine and were not members of volunteer formations of territorial communities (VCTC).

This will allow the amount of the payment to be automatically increased from UAH 2,361 to UAH 7,800 per minor and to UAH 6,100 for each child in a family with two or more children starting from 1 April.

Thus, the Government has settled the issue of social assistance payments to children of volunteers who, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans and Guarantees of Their Social Protection”, have been granted the status of a family member of a fallen defender of Ukraine.

According to the acting Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Oleksandr Porkhun, the changes were initiated following working meetings with the families of the fallen.

“The Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs appealed to the Ministry of Social Policy to resolve the issue of granting survivor’s benefits to family members of the deceased. As a result, starting from 1 April, children of fallen volunteers will receive targeted assistance in increased amounts. Therefore, the Government’s decision is a matter of restoring social justice, as the children of fallen volunteers who defended the state after 24 February 2022 received lower payments than other children of fallen defenders,”

– oleksandr Porkhun added.
