Staff shortages in pharmacy: experts, government officials, and educators to gather for roundtable discussion in Kyiv

The Ukrainian Pharmacy Professional Association / NGO “Association of Pharmacists of Ukraine” is initiating a professional discussion on one of the key problems in the industry — the shortage of personnel in the pharmaceutical sector, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
On January 15, 2026, a round table discussion will be held in Kyiv on the topic “Staff shortages in the pharmaceutical industry: challenges, regulatory solutions, and the role of public policy.”
The purpose of the event is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the reasons for the reduction in human resources in pharmacy, as well as to develop coordinated proposals for improving state policy in the field of pharmaceutical education, licensing, regulatory oversight, and staffing, taking into account the conditions of martial law and future post-war recovery.
Who will join the discussion
The round table will be attended by:
- representatives of state authorities;
- professional pharmaceutical associations;
- higher education institutions;
- experts;
- representatives of the media.
This format will allow for the formation of a balanced cross-sectoral position on the strategic challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry and ways to overcome them.

- accessibility of pharmaceutical education and dynamics of admission to specialties;
- the impact of the minimum passing score on the human resources potential of the industry;
- the effectiveness of the knowledge assessment system, in particular the KROK 1 exam;
- the place and scope of military training in pharmaceutical education;
- coordination of the state’s educational, defense, and pharmaceutical policies;
- necessary regulatory changes to preserve and restore human resources.
Results of the event
Based on the results of the round table, it is planned to prepare generalised proposals for state authorities regarding:
- changes in regulatory and legal regulation;
- improving educational standards;
- institutional development of the pharmaceutical industry.
