The Ministry of Education and Science has decided to extend the school holidays in Ukraine due to the security situation. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science on Telegram, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“Due to the consequences of the emergency, the government has decided to temporarily suspend in-person education in preschool, general secondary, vocational, vocational higher, and higher education institutions, depending on the security situation in the region,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry’s decision, the OVA and other central executive authorities must take measures to switch to distance learning or extend/introduce winter holidays until February 1, 2026.

In addition, the Kyiv City State Administration must extend or introduce winter vacations until February 1, 2026.

Kyiv preschool institutions will decide on continuing their work based on the situation on the ground.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has issued instructions to the Kyiv City State Administration and the Ministry of Education regarding winter holidays in the capital.

“In Kyiv, the Ministry of Education and the Kyiv City State Administration should extend or establish winter holidays until February 1, 2026,” Svyrydenko wrote.

She clarified that this decision does not apply to kindergartens.

What about the work of institutions and businesses

Military administrations, together with the TEB and NS commissions, are also recommended to consider transferring enterprises and institutions to remote mode for the period of severe weather.

The exception is critical infrastructure facilities and other entities for which remote work is impossible under martial law.
