Ukrsibbank’s Silver Coin card allows you to constantly support children with Down syndrome

UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group has updated the design of the Silver Coin charity card, adding a drawing by an artist with Down syndrome to its cover.

The design of the updated Silver Coin card features a drawing by Maria Isakova, a person with Down syndrome. Like many other people, she was forced to leave her home in Mykolaiv to seek refuge. The girl’s fear and anxiety changed along with the scenery outside her window – instead of explosions, she heard birds singing and looked at a hut in the picturesque Carpathians. Here she found comfort and confidence in the future, and later captured these feelings on paper.

“Silver Coin” card is an opportunity to do good deeds during each trading transaction, as UKRSIBBANK transfers UAH 1 from transactions to the All-Ukrainian charity organisation “Down Syndrome” to support families with people and children with Down syndrome. The organisation uses these funds for ongoing psychological support for families, classes for children with a speech therapist and correctional teacher, physiotherapist, and neuropsychologist. Customers’ donations are also used to provide families with literature and special materials for children’s development.

Previously, through its cooperation with the organisation, the bank equipped a specialised centre for the early development of children with Down syndrome, distributed speech and reading development programmes, seminars and comprehensive diagnostics, provided children and parents with specialist consultations, printed special literature and provided grants for the implementation of inclusive regional projects to improve the quality of life of children and people with Down syndrome.

“Supporting families facing Down syndrome is important at all times, and even more so now that all Ukrainians are forced to overcome the daily challenges of war. And parents need even more support, as they are the ones who care about the well-being, life and health of their children. Over the years of cooperation with Down Syndrome, we have done a lot of good deeds and continue to help. We are happy thatnow each of our customers can join in and do good deeds with us by simply paying for goods or services with a card,”

– said Andriy Kashperuk, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Retail Banking, UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group

“Any family can have a child with a disability, including Down syndrome. It does not depend on the status, health status, age of the parents. Learning, development, and emotions of joy cannot be postponed. It is extremely important to help families at this time. Thanks to the support of the bank and its customers, we continue to do our job and provide support to our beneficiaries.”

– added Tetiana Pavliuk, Vice President of the All-Ukrainian Charity Organisation “Down Syndrome”

The project with a charity card was launched in 2013, and since then, it has been issued more than 45 thousand times by clients. Every year, for three months, the bank’s clients, partners and employees raise funds to support initiatives, projects, and methods for the development, education and socialisation of people with Down syndrome in Ukraine, as well as to raise awareness of how to interact with people with disabilities. Initially, the branches collected coins, which were then donated to the needs of the All-Ukrainian Charitable Foundation Down Syndrome, and then the idea arose to transfer UAH 1 from each transaction to help charity. In 2023 alone, customers made more than 650 thousand transactions.

The cooperation between UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group and the Down Syndrome Foundation began in 2009. The Silver Coin Initiative is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 3 Promote healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages and Goal 17 Partnership for Sustainable Development.
