US Presidential Special Envoy Keith Kellogg says Russia is not winning the war in Ukraine.
His words from the Warsaw Security Forum are reported by Sky News, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“We are witnessing a war that Europe has not seen since World War II,” he said.
“Russia will not win this war, and Ukrainians have fought bravely and extremely well. The Ukrainians have been incredibly steadfast in what they are doing, the bottom line is that this is a great war that needs to be ended,” the official said.
Regarding the prospect of a peace deal, Kellogg says that “no one in this room” can understand what Vladimir Putin is thinking.
Asked if he believes that Putin wants peace talks, Kellogg replied: “I am an eternal optimist.”
“Hopefully, he has to make sure he understands that he can’t win in the long run. I deal a lot with Ukrainians, and they have a realistic view of the world, and we should try to emphasize that,” Kellogg said.
Earlier, the Russian dictator’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia continues the war in Ukraine for the present and future of the country. He emphasized that Russia has to achieve the goals that Putin has been setting since the beginning of the war.
