26 February 14:35
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine has officially recognized military-technology sport as a new non-Olympic sport. The relevant ministerial order included it in the Register of Recognized Sports. This was reported in the Ministry, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs.
Military technology sport combines competitions in four areas: air, land, water, and cyberspace. Participants will compete in the control of drones and ground robotic systems in the following disciplines: racing, interception, reconnaissance, remote control, and combined missions.
What are the benefits of official recognition?
The official status will facilitate the organization of a system of competitions at all levels, including the first international ones (with the support of state and local authorities). It is also planned to integrate this sport into the curricula of technical universities and military educational institutions.
Young engineers, programmers, drone operators, and analysts will be able to develop their skills in a sports environment. Students of technical specialties will gain practical experience with innovative technologies.
Military-technology sport also opens up opportunities for veterans who can use their skills in a new way – by teaching young people, participating in competitions, and testing innovations.
There are also plans to create professional leagues, international tournaments, and attract partners to develop the sport.
The Federation of Military and Technological Sports already operates in Ukraine
This institution will develop the sport. The emphasis is on the following areas: aerial drones, laser tag (laser and tag are team military tactical sports games using safe lasers), robotic platforms, and cyberspace. Accordingly, the Federation’s efforts are already focused on organizing and conducting
– competitions in aircraft control and maneuvering: piloting FPV drones for accuracy and speed, as well as the use of unmanned vehicles for reconnaissance, interception and remote destruction;
– laser tag competitions: modeling of military scenarios that helps to develop tactical and shooting skills among participants;
– competitions with the use of ground-based robotic platforms for logistics, engineering and combat tasks;
– competitions in cyberspace: this includes competitions in ethical hacking, cyber warfare and other events aimed at improving cybersecurity and professional skills in this area.
