Who is entitled to payments for a fallen soldier: The Parliament adopted a new law

In the second reading, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Bill No. 13129, which concerns the appointment and receipt of financial assistance by the dependents of a fallen soldier. This was reported by the co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, Iryna Gerashchenko, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
In the event of the death of a serviceman, the state pays a one-time financial assistance of 15 million hryvnias. Draft law No. 13129 clarifies which of the dependents of a fallen soldier is entitled to a one-time financial assistance from the state.
The bill was supported by 256 MPs.
“The draft law No. 13129 on the appointment and receipt of one-time financial assistance by the dependents of a fallen serviceman has been adopted in general. It was supported by 256 MPs from all factions,” Gerashchenko wrote on Telegram.
According to Gerashchenko, the dependents of the fallen soldier can apply for a one-time financial assistance.
“These can be children, parents, wife or husband who lost their loved ones in the war,” the MP said.
The document clarifies the provisions of Article 16-1 of the Law “On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Members of Their Families”.
The proposed amendments establish that family members of deceased persons include their dependents who are entitled to a survivor’s pension in accordance with the law “On Pension Provision for Persons Discharged from Military Service and Certain Other Persons” for a deceased military serviceman, person liable for military service or a reservist.”
The list of persons eligible for the payment now officially includes not only spouses, children or parents, but also those who were considered dependents under pension legislation.
