Cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine have blocked the supply of components for Russian weapons, including parts for the production of Shaheds and microcircuits for cruise missiles.

This was announced by Ilya Vitiuk, head of the SBU Cyber Security Department, during a telethon, Kommersant ukrainskyihttps://www.komersant.info/ reports.

“We are blocking the supply chains of components for Russian weapons. One example is that we have already blocked the supply of servo motors for the production of 1600 Shaheds and 4000 microcircuits for cruise missiles,

– said Vitiuk.

He also said that SBU cyber specialists are working on the front line to destroy enemy electronic warfare and electronic warfare systems. They are also engaged in intercepting Russian UAVs that coordinate missile and artillery strikes against the Defence Forces.

Ilya Vitiuk stressed that the intelligence information received by the DCIB helps prevent human casualties. It also helps to repel cyber attacks.

Cyber warfare is not something abstract and virtual. Each repelled attack is a prevented attempt to harm our state and people. Just imagine: Russian special services hacked the messengers of one military man and thus found out the exact place and time of the planned training, and as a result, the arrival and dozens of dead,

– explained Ilya Vityuk.

Over the 2 years of full-scale war, the SBU has repelled almost 10,000 cyberattacks. Most of them were neutralised at the initial stage. These cyberattacks had various intelligence, destructive, psychological or combined purposes.

According to Vityuk’s forecasts, Russian special services will increase their cyber offensive capabilities. However, the SBU also conducts its own special operations in cyberspace and destroys various Russian military facilities.

As a reminder, one of the last high-profile cyberattacks by Russia was the attack on Kyivstar on 12 December 2023, which left 24.4 million subscribers of the largest operator without communication for several days.

It has also recently become known that Ukrainian intelligence officers hacked into the servers of the Russian Ministry of Defence. The information obtained allows us to fully understand the work of the entire ministry and all its individual units, as well as identify the leadership and all key individuals in the institution.
