Several dozen “servants of the people” in parliament want to resign – media

The split in the presidential parliamentary faction “Servant of the People” has intensified to the point that several MPs from this faction want to resign their seats. This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, citing its own sources, Komersant ukrayinsky reports ![]()
Currently, the faction of the former mono-majority Servant of the People officially has 235 seats. However, the Office of the President and the faction’s leadership can only really count on 170-180 MPs who regularly attend meetings and support the necessary decisions. The rest of the MPs have either openly split from the majority or skip the Rada meetings. The publication refers to the “schismatics” as, for example, the “Razumkov group” of 17 MPs.
This is causing serious misunderstandings between Bankova Street and the parliament, UP writes.
“There are misunderstandings between the President’s Office and the parliament. The OP despises the parliament. They think that the “servants” will vote for everything they need because Zelenskyy brought them to power. Yes, he did. But we have already survived two years of full-scale war. Therefore, the old model of interaction no longer works. We need to change something,”
– an anonymous source from the “servants” commented on the situation.
Among the reasons for this demarche of the MPs are “fatigue from the war” and removal from the decision-making process:
“Firstly, everyone is tired of the war. Secondly, there are many strict restrictions, such as the inability to go on business trips. Thirdly, MPs have no influence on the processes in the country and therefore do not see their role in the Rada and the point of being there.”
It got to the point where several dozen MPs from the Servant of the People party expressed their desire to resign to the faction’s leadership.
“Relatively speaking, a deputy comes and says: “Let me go. I am offered a managerial position at a factory and a salary of $8,000. I need to feed my family and develop somehow.” I have heard such conversations many times,”
– the source said.
Following the 2019 parliamentary elections, the Servant of the People won a record 254 seats in the history of Ukraine and formed a so-called “mono-majority” that could pass most bills without the involvement of other MPs. Currently, despite formally retaining the majority, the Servant of the People faction is unable to secure the necessary 226 votes for decision-making. To do this, the faction’s leadership is forced to negotiate with non-factional and other MPs, including former pro-Russian MPs from the OPFL, who are now members of the Platform for Life and Peace and Restoration of Ukraine groups.
