Climatologists recorded the hottest day in history: what was the temperature

23 July 2024 18:25

The world recorded the hottest day on record. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Reuters.

The European Union’s Copernicus climate change service recognized July 21, 2024, as the hottest day on earth. On that day, the global average surface temperature reached 17.09 degrees Celsius. This is slightly higher than the previous record set last July at 17.08 degrees Celsius.

Climatologists and meteorologists believe that the last 13 months, which also turned out to be the hottest in the history of weather observations, could lead to a global crisis on the planet. The Earth is already beginning to slow down its movement around the axis due to global warming. This has led to a lengthening of the day, which may not be noticeable to people, but threatens to provoke navigation disruptions around the world.

Temperature records are also being set in Ukraine. Thus, the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory reported that on July 22, 2024, a new temperature maximum was recorded at the meteorological station in Boryspil: an average daily temperature of +20.9 degrees Celsius. The previous record was set in 2001: +20.5°С.
