The “Coalition of the Willing” held a meeting at the level of heads of departments: what were the results?

The “coalition of the willing” held a meeting at the level of commanders-in-chief of the armed forces of member countries. Ukraine participated in the meeting, and the parties discussed the implementation of security guarantees for Kyiv.

According to Komersant, this was reported by the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

According to Syrsky, the format for implementing security guarantees for Ukraine was discussed with partners. The meeting was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Andriy Hnatov.

During the meeting, Syrsky emphasized that Russia is not showing any willingness to end the war. Instead, the terror against the civilian population continues. That is why it is now important to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and continue to strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine and Europe as a whole.

“Special attention was paid to the issue of continuing military assistance to Ukraine as a key prerequisite for maintaining the combat readiness of the Armed Forces and their ability to continue to inflict significant losses on the enemy on the battlefield,” he said.

Syrskyi added that the meeting was attended by, among others:

  • French Armed Forces Chief General Fabien Mendon;
  • Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton;
  • Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Commander of US Forces in Europe, General Alex Grinkevic;
  • Chairman of the European Union Military Committee General Sean Clancy

“I am grateful to our partners for every practical step that brings a just peace closer for Ukraine and all of Europe. Together, we are not only defending borders—we are defending the values on which the free world is based,” Syrsky concluded.

It should be noted that, as is well known, the partners plan to take on real binding commitments that will come into effect in the event of new aggression by Russia. These provisions are laid down in the draft Paris Agreement on Security Guarantees for Ukraine. However, they will only come into effect after the war in Ukraine has ended.

In the future, leaders plan to finalize security documents with an emphasis on security guarantees and the restoration of Ukraine, after which consultations are planned in the US with the participation of a wider range of countries.
