In Ukraine, a gradual increase in air temperature is expected in late February and early March. Forecasters predict predominantly above-zero temperatures, with thermometers in some regions rising to 10–13 degrees Celsius. At the same time, frosts are still possible, especially at night, and the weather situation may change. This was reported in an exclusive comment "Komersant Ukrainian" by forecaster Natalia Golenia.

At the end of February, above-zero temperatures will dominate in Ukraine

According to the forecaster, a gradual warming will begin in Ukraine in the coming days.

“At the end of February and beginning of March, calculations show a noticeable predominance of positive temperatures — ranging from 1 to 6 degrees, and in the south of Ukraine — up to 10 degrees Celsius,” Natalia Golenia said.

This means that weather conditions will gradually approach spring, although a sharp warming is not expected yet.

Already on March 5–7, the temperature may rise to 13 degrees

Forecasters predict the most noticeable warming in early March, especially in the southern and western regions.

“Perhaps as early as March 5-7, in the west and south of the country, the daytime temperature will rise to 10-13 degrees. In general, there will be a slow increase in heat,” the forecaster said.

Thus, spring-like temperatures are possible in a number of regions of Ukraine.

Atlantic air will bring warming

Forecasters explain the change in weather by the arrival of warm air masses from the Atlantic.

“The process will begin on Monday from the west. It will be Atlantic air spreading across Ukraine, so temperatures will gradually rise,” Natalia Golenia explained.

However, the speed of warming is influenced by the presence of snow cover.

“Due to the fact that we have snow cover, rapid warming is not expected yet, especially in early March,” the forecaster noted.

Night frosts are still possible in the coming days

Despite the general trend towards warming, frosts will continue in Ukraine in the coming days, especially at night.

“For now, we will have clear skies on the weekend, and it will be frosty at night — up to moderate frosts,” Natalia Golenia said.

However, from the beginning of the new week, the temperature will gradually begin to rise.

Forecasters warn: the weather in March may still change

Experts note that weather models do not yet provide a definitive forecast for the first half of March.

“The models currently show a rise in temperature, but the situation may change. We are not yet sure what the first half of March will be like,” the forecaster emphasized.

Forecasters also remind us that sharp cold snaps are possible in March.

“We remember March 2013, when there was an invasion of cold air, snowfalls, and frosts. Such a scenario cannot be completely ruled out,” said Natalia Golenia.

Spring will come gradually

According to forecasters, Ukraine is expected to see a gradual transition to spring weather.

The most noticeable warming is predicted in March, but short-term cold snaps remain possible.
