Former official exposed for facilitating illegal seizure of property of Kyiv defense plant

Investigators served a suspicion notice to a former official of the State Registration Service of Ukraine. She is accused of facilitating the illegal alienation of the real estate complex of the Arsenal Plant in Kyiv from state ownership.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the Prosecutor General, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“SBI employees served a notice of suspicion to the former state registrar of the State Registration Service of Ukraine. She contributed to the illegal alienation of real estate belonging to the Arsenal Plant in Kyiv, one of the country’s leading defense industry enterprises, from state ownership,” the report says.
According to the investigation, the state registrar, abusing her official position, illegally registered private ownership of state property in the interests of three private entities.
“The dealers illegally appropriated more than 29,000 square meters of the complex, and the state’s losses are estimated at more than UAH 134 million,” investigators said.
The former official, who is now a lawyer, was served a notice of suspicion of aiding and abetting in the misappropriation of property through abuse of office, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons on a particularly large scale.
She was also served a request for a custodial measure of restraint.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to twelve years with confiscation of property.
The Prosecutor General’s Office is in charge of the proceedings.
