Unmanned Systems Command joins project to procure drones and electronic warfare

The government has included the Unmanned Systems Command in the list of state customers for drones and electronic warfare equipment purchased through the Ministry of Defense and the State Special Communications Service. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“We have the ability to develop a technological advantage over the enemy. The creation of a separate type of troops to use unmanned systems has already optimized the use of drones on the battlefield. And inclusion in the list of state customers will allow the Ground Forces Command to make more efficient and effective decisions on the use of the latest technologies,” said Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
The volume of drone procurement is growing
In the first 10 months of 2024, the Ministry of Defense, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, contracted 1.6 million drones of various types for a total of over UAH 114 billion, the defense ministry reported.
Of this amount, suppliers have already fulfilled orders for 1.28 million UAVs worth more than UAH 81 billion. At the same time, another 366,940 units of drones are scheduled to be delivered by the end of the year.
For 2025, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Digital Transformation have contracted 155,205 unmanned aerial vehicles worth UAH 32.33 billion.
In total, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Digital Transformation have already contracted 1.8 million drones for 2024-2025, worth almost UAH 147 billion.
What kind of drones are being supplied
Manufacturers offer a wide range of models, including
– deepstrike drones (Deepstrike kamikaze)
– FPV kamikazes
– reconnaissance copters such as DJI Mavic
– reconnaissance aircraft and wing drones
– attack copters and airplanes.
