Curfew in a new way: electronic passes to be introduced in Kyiv

Kyiv is preparing for a full-fledged transition to an electronic system of permits for moving around the city during the curfew. This was announced by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, in an interview with Ukrinform, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to him, the KMMA team is currently working on an IT solution that will allow to fully digitize the process of issuing passes, making it transparent and controlled.

“We are currently working on an IT solution that will make it impossible to abuse – so that there will always be a digital trace: who issued the pass, who approved it, who it was issued to, etc.”, explained Tkachenko.

He noted that before the analysis of this system began, thousands of passes were issued in Kyiv – not only to critical infrastructure workers, but also to people who were not involved in important areas of activity.

Now the situation is changing: passes are not actually issued, except in rare cases when it is really necessary.

“My goal is to completely abandon paper passes and switch to electronic documents. I want to do this as soon as possible, but it is a lot of work: we need to develop a product and then gradually replace old passes with new ones,” Tkachenko emphasized.

Earlier, the head of the KCSA has already stated that uncontrolled issuance of passes during the curfew poses a threat to the security of the capital and may be associated with corruption schemes. The new approach will help avoid such abuses.
