The German company Rheinmetall has begun supplying Lynx KF41 infantry fighting vehicles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The first five vehicles are scheduled to be delivered in early 2026, in accordance with the contract signed in December 2025.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Rheinmetall.
The order is worth several tens of millions of euros and is being financed by the German government.
The decision in favor of the Lynx KF41 was made after thorough testing of the next-generation combat vehicle. Ukrainian IFVs will be equipped with a two-seater Lance turret and specially configured for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
There are plans to purchase additional batches in the future, with some of the vehicles being manufactured directly in Ukraine.
“We are grateful for the trust that Ukraine has placed in us. We would also like to thank the German government for its support. This order is a fundamental success that underscores our ongoing efforts to support Ukraine,” said Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger. He also thanked the German government for its support of this project.
The Lynx KF41 IFV was developed with current and future combat vehicle requirements in mind. It features maximum modularity, open electronic architecture, the largest protected interior volume in its class, and high potential for integrating the latest technologies.
Thanks to its scalable weight, modern drive system, and protection technologies, the vehicle combines mobility and safety and provides a high level of ergonomics for the crew.
Rheinmetall weapons production in Ukraine
In June 2024, JSC Ukroboronprom and the German concern Rheinmetall launched their first joint workshop in Ukraine. It manufactures and repairs German-designed equipment.
Rheinmetall also received an order from the Ukrainian government to build a factory for the production of ammunition.
In mid-February, Germany’s largest military equipment manufacturer announced an agreement with a Ukrainian company to produce 155 mm artillery shells in Ukraine, which are urgently needed by the country in its war against Russia.
The exact production volumes are not yet known, but the company has specified that it will be a six-digit number, i.e., at least 100,000 rounds of ammunition per year. Rheinmetall will hold a 51% stake in the new venture, while its Ukrainian partner, whose name has not yet been disclosed, will hold 49%.
According to Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, the ammunition factory is expected to start operating in 2026.
