“Compensation for power outages”: Ukrainians warned about a new scam
16 January 07:15
Some citizens are receiving fake messages purportedly from Oschadbank. People are being promised “compensation for power outages.” This was reported by the bank’s chairman, Sergei Naumov, on his Telegram channel, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Naumov noted that these messages are not being sent by Oschadbank’s team, but by a team of criminals.
“In recent days, Ukrainians have been receiving messages allegedly on behalf of Oschadbank and energy companies about ‘compensation for power outages’. This is a fraudulent scheme,” he said.
Naumov assured that Oschadbank:
- does not send messages with links to third-party websites;
- does not process compensation through messengers;
- does not ask you to enter your card or banking details via such links.
The chairman of the bank’s board addressed Ukrainians with the following requests:
not to click on suspicious links;
Do not share personal and financial data.
only verify information through the bank’s official channels.
“We live in a world of constant challenges, and unfortunately, fraudsters take advantage of this. Vigilance is also an element of our security today. Take care of yourself and your funds,” he emphasized.
