Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest mobile operator, has announced the acquisition of regional internet provider ISP SHTORM LLC, which operates under the Shtorm brand. This was reported in the company’s official press release, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The deal is expected to strengthen the operator’s position in the fixed-line market and expand home Internet coverage in the regions.
What is known about the provider
Shtorm operates in the Kirovohrad region and covers Kropyvnytskyi, Oleksandriia, and 132 surrounding settlements. The company serves over 50,000 subscribers.
Kyivstar notes that the integration of the provider will allow customers to get more stable Internet access and a wider choice of service packages.
Focus on network stability
The company emphasizes that expanding fixed infrastructure is especially important in the context of problems in the power system, when network stability becomes critical for uninterrupted access to communications.
Kyivstar CEO Alexander Komarov called the agreement a logical step in implementing the company’s strategy of leadership in the fixed-line communications market.
Broader expansion strategy
In recent years, the operator has been actively diversifying its business.
Earlier, the company completed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of the medical goods service Tabletki.ua, which indicates an expansion of its interests beyond traditional telecom services.
