A Ukrainian cargo ship sank in the Black Sea off the coast of Bulgaria. Rescuers from three countries evacuated the entire crew. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Maritime.

According to the publication, the incident occurred about 140 nautical miles east of the city of Varna.

At about 13:00, the crew of the EILEEN, which included 10 Ukrainian sailors, sent a distress signal. It turned out that there was a hole in the hull, which caused the vessel to quickly take on water.

The crew was rescued by forces from three countries at once: a Bulgarian border guard boat, a Romanian vessel, a Turkish auxiliary vessel, and a Bulgarian Navy helicopter.

The first to spot the Ukrainian sailors was the crew of the Turkish vessel MURAT ILHAN, which was near the Sakarya gas field. They found two life rafts with all ten crew members in them.

The people were taken on board – all of them are alive.

All crew members are in good general condition and were not injured during the incident.

The cause of the vessel’s sinking is currently unknown.

According to preliminary information, the EILEEN, owned by a Ukrainian company, was built more than 30 years ago.

In 2025, it has already been stopped three times for technical inspections in different ports. The last inspection in Izmail revealed a number of problems. Experts are now investigating the exact causes of the accident.
