jaswyn Sangha, 42, known in the media as the “Queen of Ketamine,” pleaded guilty in the death of Friends star Matthew Perry. She is accused of distributing ketamine and involvement in the actor’s fatal overdose. The woman faces up to 65 years in prison, and the final court decision is to be announced on December 10.

This was reported by NBC with reference to a court spokesperson, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Details of the case

Sangha pleaded guilty to five counts, including

  • one count of maintaining a premises for illegal drug transactions;
  • three counts of distribution of ketamine;
  • one count of distribution resulting in death or serious bodily injury.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Sangha acted together with her husband, Erk Fleming. In the month of Perry’s death, they sold him 51 vials of ketamine, passing them on to the actor’s personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa. He injected the drug into the actor, including on the day of the tragedy – at least three times. According to forensic experts, this is what led to the fatal overdose.

Iwamasa and Fleming have already pleaded guilty and are awaiting their sentences.

“She takes responsibility for her actions,” Sangha’s lawyer said last month.

The death of the actor

Matthew Perry, who was 54 years old, was found dead on October 28, 2023, in his own jacuzzi in Los Angeles. An expert examination found that the cause of death was “acute exposure to ketamine,” which caused loss of consciousness and subsequent drowning.

Although the actor had been undergoing ketamine therapy for depression a week before his death, the examination confirmed that the dose found in his body was significantly higher than medical standards and could not have been the result of treatment.
