The temporarily occupied Crimea is experiencing major problems with electricity: blackout schedules have been introduced in most cities and districts. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" reports news agency citing announcements by the occupying energy companies.

Thus, in Sevastopol, a strict schedule of power outages has been introduced since 17 July 2024. According to information from Sevastopolenergo, the city will face systematic power outages that will last a total of 12 hours a day.

The outage schedule is divided into two stages. Each phase will include a two-hour power cut, followed by a two-hour power supply period. Thus, Sevastopol residents will be without electricity for 12 hours today.

The occupying governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, explained the need for these measures by “a malfunction of the generating equipment at the Rostov NPP”.

This situation is part of a wider problem with electricity supply in the southern regions of Russia. Earlier, it was reported that temporary schedules for limiting energy consumption were introduced in Rostov, Krasnodar, Volgograd regions and Stavropol due to an accident/failure at the Rostov NPP. According to Russian media, the accident left several million people without electricity. Unfortunately, there are no reports of any worse consequences for Russians.

On17 July, Ukrainians are expected to experience long power cuts not only in Crimea.
