Cuba is helping Putin: Ukraine responds by closing its embassy

Ukraine has decided to close its embassy in Havana and downgrade diplomatic relations with the Republic of Cuba. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, who emphasized that this decision is a response to Cuba’s support for Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to Sibiga, the Ukrainian delegation voted against the UN General Assembly resolution on the need to end the US blockade of Cuba, with good reason.
In particular, the Cuban leadership not only demonstrates political support for the Kremlin, but also actually participates in the war on the side of the aggressor.

In particular, earlier the Cuban president wished Russian dictator Vladimir Putin “success” in his aggressive war against Ukraine.
“We heard him well. This year, we decided to close our embassy in Havana and lower the level of our diplomatic relations,” the Foreign Minister said.
Cuba promotes mobilization of its citizens to the Russian army
The minister reminded that thousands of Cuban citizens have signed contracts with the Russian armed forces and have been sent to the front to participate in hostilities against Ukraine. The Ukrainian side believes that the official Havana not only does not impede this process, but also encourages the continuation of aggression by its silence.
“Havana’s unwillingness to stop the massive involvement of its citizens in Russia’s war against Ukraine is complicity in the aggression and must be condemned in the strongest terms. Ukraine will always oppose this practice and uphold the goals and principles of the UN Charter,” emphasized Sibiga.
Ukraine’s decision is a signal to the international community
The Foreign Minister emphasized that the closure of the embassy is not directed against the Cuban people, who have the right to live in peace and prosperity. This is a step against the official Cuban authorities, who have chosen to support the aggressor state.
“Our voice is not against the Cuban people – we respect their right to live in prosperity. It is against the inaction of the Cuban authorities in response to the massive recruitment of Cuban citizens into the Russian occupation army,” the Foreign Minister said.
