“Cult of Death”: officer explains why Russians follow the order to “assault at all costs”

Russian attacks have become a self-conscious victim. The President of Ukraine called it a direct order from the Russian command to attack our positions “at any cost.” All of this, combined with an ideology that glorifies self-sacrifice, turns the attacks into a practice of systemic self-sacrificial tactics. This means that the enemy is willing to pay with human lives for small tactical “victories,” and our response must be comprehensive – from precision reconnaissance and long-range strikes to more intensive work to neutralize their agent networks. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the results of the work of the Security Service of Ukraine and the combat actions of the A-Corps at the front, emphasizing the effectiveness of Ukrainian long-range strikes and the reduction of Russia’s military potential. He particularly praised the soldiers who are actively engaged in the Pokrovske sector.
“Russian troops have been ordered to storm our positions at any cost. Accordingly, the level of Russian losses has increased significantly. Our SBU soldiers alone, and in the Pokrovsk sector alone, are now killing over 100 occupants per day. In total, over the past month, the soldiers of the A-Corps eliminated 3,028 occupants – we have the appropriate verification for each of them,” Zelensky emphasized.
Officer: death cult prevails in Russia
Officer of the Ukrainian Defense Forces Yevhen Tykhyi in an exclusive commentary
“What has changed? In Russia, we see only what the President said. There is a cult of death in Russia, and we can see it. And it has been dominating for a long time – even before the war in Syria,” emphasized Tikhiy.
He noted that this “cult of death” is evident even in Russian films, which promote the idea of sacrificing lives for Russia’s “small victories.”
“The problem for a Russian is that it ends in death. The idea is that you have to do something to benefit Putin and his friends, but not to benefit you. That is to die. Or, for example, scratch on a cultural monument: Vanya was here. Even if you face the death penalty, this is a small, small victory for Russia,” explained Officer Tykhyi.

According to Tykhyi, this is the motivation behind the orders to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders “at any cost”.
Drones are our strong argument
During a regular meeting on the development of unmanned systems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized that, given the enemy’s numerical superiority, our strength lies in quality, skill, and technology. Unmanned systems remain a key tool for deterring and destroying the enemy, and their development is a priority for the command.
The Chief of Staff noted that in September, unmanned aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit 66.5 thousand enemy targets, which is 10.8% more than in August.
“Kamikaze drones accounted for 39.2 thousand hits. At the same time, 18,159 servicemen of the occupation army were injured or destroyed (23% compared to the previous month),” said Colonel Syrsky.
In addition, Syrsky reported an almost twofold increase in the number of tasks performed by robotic ground systems, which indicates an increase in interest and use of this component at the tactical level.
Syrsky announced the continued scaling up of the Unmanned Systems Forces units and the launch of a recruitment campaign for them. The command is also working to optimize the structure of the units, improve the interaction of the UAVs with the infantry, and quickly resolve organizational and technical problems identified by unit commanders in the field.
