Currency exchange rate: hryvnia continues to fall in price in exchange offices

The dollar and euro continue to rise in price in Ukrainian exchange offices, but the official exchange rate from the National Bank does not quite reflect these trends, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Official exchange rate
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has set the following official exchange rates for January 6, 2025:
- US dollar (USD): uAH 42.0889 to USD 1.
- Euro (EUR): uAH 43.3347 per EUR 1.
Compared to the previous day, the US dollar exchange rate increased by UAH 0.05, and the euro exchange rate decreased by UAH 0.04.

Currency rates in exchange offices
As of the morning of January 6, 2025, exchange rates in Kyiv exchange offices differ slightly from the official NBU figures:
- US dollar (USD): buy – UAH 41.8870, sell – UAH 42.6443.
- Euro (EUR): buy – UAH 43.20, sell – UAH 43.70.
These data were provided by BIN.ua as of 10:25 a.m. on January 6. Compared to January 3, the dollar’s selling rate in exchangers increased by 13.97 kopecks, and the buying rate by 8.89 kopecks.
The average buying rate for the euro increased by 9.69 kopecks to 43.3630 UAH/EUR, and the selling rate increased by 9.15 kopecks to 44.1930 UAH/EUR.
Exchange offices show slight differences depending on the region and competition in the market. Analysts note that the increased demand for cash currency during the pre-holiday period is contributing to a slight rise in the price of the dollar and euro in exchange offices.
Currency market trends
Experts note that the foreign exchange market of Ukraine is influenced by both internal and external factors, in particular, the dynamics of world energy prices, export and import volumes, as well as the geopolitical situation.
Analysts predict that in the short term, the hryvnia exchange rate will remain relatively stable, but slight fluctuations are possible due to seasonal factors and changes in international markets.
