Exchange rates as of March 25: The dollar and the euro have risen again

25 March 09:16

The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official exchange rates for Wednesday, March 25. The Ukrainian hryvnia has weakened slightly against the U.S. dollar and the euro, due to current trends in the foreign exchange market and demand for foreign currency.

This is evidenced by updated data from the regulator, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

Official exchange rates as of March 25

According to information from the National Bank of Ukraine, the official exchange rates are as follows:

  • 1 US dollar — 43.92 UAH (9 kopecks)
  • 1 euro — 50.89 UAH (1 kopeck)

Thus, the hryvnia showed a slight weakening after a previous period of relative stability.

Situation on the interbank market

On the interbank foreign exchange market, as of midday, quotes were as follows:

  • US dollar — 43.90–43.94 UAH
  • Euro — 50.87–50.90 UAH

This indicates that the currency market remains relatively stable, despite exchange rate fluctuations.

Why is the hryvnia weakening?

Economists explain that the hryvnia exchange rate is influenced by several factors at once:

  • seasonal growth in demand for foreign currency among importers;
  • the situation on international financial markets;
  • the volume of international aid to Ukraine;
  • the balance of exports and imports;
  • war risks and economic uncertainty.

At the same time, experts consider minor fluctuations in the exchange rate within a few kopecks to be a market norm.

What to expect from the exchange rate in the near future

Analysts note that the hryvnia exchange rate in the near future will depend on:

  • the volume of foreign currency inflows from partners;
  • the export situation;
  • the NBU’s policy;
  • the overall macroeconomic situation.

The National Bank continues to monitor the situation in the foreign exchange market to avoid sharp fluctuations.

Advice for Ukrainians

Financial experts advise citizens to:

focus on long-term financial stability.

not to panic over minor fluctuations;
