The Kvartal 95 studio got into a scandal over the Easter episode of the Single Quarter. The actors made a parody of Oleksandr Yarmoshevych, the former head of the Rivne TV and Radio Company, who kissed two different women at work. Ukrainians on social media called the number humiliating and were outraged by the actors’ actions, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to the story, a new employee of the TCC complains to her colleagues that her boss tried to kiss her. In response, they explain to her that bugs and video surveillance cameras have been installed in the TCC, so they invented a “code” to prevent secret information from reaching the Russian secret services.

This “code” was called “DPO” (“touch-kiss-hug”). So, a new employee is asked not to panic when her boss touches her or kisses her, because this is how he “transmits information”.

For example, one of the employees tells the newcomer: “It turns out that he wanted to give you a very serious task [when he wanted to kiss you]. He wanted you to go to the GUB – the Main Security Directorate – and give them the manning documents. You’re a panicker”.

During the 9-minute video, actors dressed in military uniforms kiss passionately and explain that this is a secret type of information transfer.

One of the characters in the video states that the protagonist, Alexander Viktorovich, was able to expose the spy because he “found out the Russian-speaking jaw with his tongue”.

Social media was outraged by this issue. It was called unfunny and disgusting. In addition, 95 Kvartal did not even change the name of the hero of the number. His name is Oleksandr Viktorovych, the same as the real former head of the Rivne TCC.

“95 Kvartal is also accused of devaluing the military, as well as ridiculing sexism and harassment in the workplace.

The head of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, Olga Gerasymiuk, also reacted to the issue: “We’ve only recently talked about this… I don’t know how else we need to make it happen… We gathered ‘creators’, held a roundtable, more than 120 media outlets were present, and talked about the inadmissibility of this shit.”

Journalist and political commentator Maryna Danyliuk-Yarmolaieva also reacted to the issue.

“The quarterly has hit rock bottom again. They made an ‘Easter issue’, where they made up a whole sketch about kissing in the Rivne shopping centre. Everything looked much more vulgar and regurgitated than in the original video on Shariy’s telegram. Firstly, the protagonist of the video is called “Oleksandr Viktorovych” several times. Just like the original tanker Yarmoshevych, who for some time headed the Rivne TCC. That is, the authors continue to humiliate the man so much that they even decided not to change his name,”

– said Danylyuk-Yarmolaieva.

According to her, while the quarter has been publishing these jokes, “Oleksandr Viktorovych” has been at the front for several months, transferred to the 5th Tank Brigade. And before his appointment to the TCC, he had been at the front for many years, for example, in Debaltseve.

“The quarter is disgusting. It does a shameful job of discrediting the army, mobilisation and soldiers who may not be perfect family men, but it is thanks to their work at the front that you can produce this shameful work. Such numbers are much worse than kissing your boss with your tongue. Also, such numbers make a mockery of military uniforms and chevrons of the army – because these clowns had all this in their room.”

– Danylyuk-Yarmolayeva summed up.

Journalist and writer Natalia Bushkovska also criticised the issue.

“Desecrating the pixel, ridiculing the military, disgusting and mediocre touches on the most sensitive topics.
The strip is in the obituaries. The frontline is an arsehole. Mobilisation is a failure. And people laugh at this and buy T-shirts “Evader” and “Evader’s Wife”. Studio 95 Quarter – you are the bottom. And so are the people who eat it,”

– she said.
