Kyiv law enforcement officers are checking information about attacks on women in the Obolon district of the capital. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Kyiv police.
What happened
In early November, disturbing information began to spread on Kyiv social media: allegedly, a maniac appeared in the Obolon district of the capital, attacking women at night and hitting them on the head with a hammer.

The authors of posts on Facebook and local chat rooms warned residents to be careful and not to walk alone in the evening. The post even noted that the number of victims had allegedly already reached 11.
The news quickly spread online, causing panic among residents of several Kyiv districts. Some began sharing hearsay “confirmations,” while others called on the police to respond immediately.
Police response
Kyiv police responded promptly to the reports and stated that they had not received any official reports of attacks. The police began checking the information, analyzed the locations indicated in the posts, and contacted the author of the post to clarify the details.
“We ask citizens to trust only official sources and not to spread unverified information. If you have information about these events, please call the special line 102,” the Kyiv police emphasized.
Police spokeswoman Hanna Strashok said in a commentary for TSN that operatives checked all the addresses mentioned in social networks, but found no evidence of attacks. She also emphasized that the spread of unverified rumors only creates panic among citizens and interferes with the real work of the police.

Who is “Malvina”?
Later, the author of the viral post clarified that it was not a maniac, but a woman with bright blue hair, who was nicknamed “Malvina” in the neighborhood.
According to her, this woman behaves aggressively, has repeatedly harassed passers-by, and in several cases has allegedly attacked women and children near the Bratislava bus stop.

What the police say
The police say that there is no reason to talk about a series of attacks or the threat of a maniac. All reports that appeared on social media are being checked.
Law enforcement officials also emphasize that any attacks, cases of aggressive behavior, or attempts at physical violence should be recorded officially by calling the police or 102.
What citizens should do
The police urge Kyiv residents to remain calm and not to spread information from unverified sources. If you witness a conflict or aggressive actions, you should immediately call the police.
